Here are your readings for the day. They come in two forms… a written form and audio form… you are invited to read or listen as best fits what you need for today. Be well, stay home, stay safe and go wash your hands, and if you must go out…wear your mask!
As you read or listen, you are invited to breathe in … and out. Settle in and listen to God’s Word. How is God speaking to you today? Pray your thoughts, desires, needs and feelings from your meditation, enjoy the presence of your Lord and Savior. May your heart be nourished and grounded for today.
Psalm 112:1-5, 7
Praise the Lord!
Happy are those who fear the Lord,
who greatly delight in his commandments.
Their descendants will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in their houses,
and their righteousness endures forever.
They rise in the darkness as a light for the upright;
they are gracious, merciful, and righteous.
It is well with those who deal generously and lend,
who conduct their affairs with justice.
They are not afraid of evil tidings;
their hearts are firm, secure in the Lord.
You have not come to something that can be touched, a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a tempest, and the sound of a trumpet, and a voice whose words made the hearers beg that not another word be spoken to them. (For they could not endure the order that was given, “If even an animal touches the mountain, it shall be stoned to death.” Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear.”) But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
FSConnect Prayers for the day:
Pray for the many students who are graduating this year knowing their celebrations will look different than they had hoped. If you have someone in your family graduating this year, please let the church office know. If you have someone who is graduating, send them a note and let them know you are praying for them.
Prayer for the day*:
Ascended Savior, fix my eyes on you, glorious and seated at the right hand of God. Let this vision of your heavenly reign – active, engaged, and working for my good — move me here on earth to live with a child-like humility in your care and steady courage in the face of opposition, all the while finding joy and gratitude welling up within me, a life pleasing to you and benefit to the watching world. That’s a big order to deliver, but you are faithful to do it. Amen.
*Today’s prayer is taken from Canons of Dort 5.12 as written in Seeking God’s Face, Praying with the Bible through the Year.
May the peace of Christ be with you today and always, amen.
