Here are your readings for the day. They come in two forms… a written form and audio form… you are invited to read or listen as best fits what you need for today. Be well, stay home, stay safe and go wash your hands, and if you must go out…wear your mask!
As you read or listen, you are invited to breathe in … and out. Settle in and listen to God’s Word. Reminding yourself that you are in God’s presence, as you listen or read ponder and reflect on what connects with your heart or mind. Pray to God what has moved you today, turn your thoughts to God and enjoy spending time with God. May your heart be nourished and grounded for today.
A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite.
I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever;
with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations.
I declare that your steadfast love is established forever;
your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.
Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord,
your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones.
For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord?
Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord,
a God feared in the council of the holy ones,
great and awesome above all that are around him?
O Lord God of hosts,
who is as mighty as you, O Lord?
Your faithfulness surrounds you.
Lord, where is your steadfast love of old,
which by your faithfulness you swore to David? Remember, O Lord, how your servant is taunted;
how I bear in my bosom the insults of the peoples,
with which your enemies taunt, O Lord,
with which they taunted the footsteps of your anointed.
Blessed be the Lord forever.
Amen and Amen.
So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.” Jesus answered, “I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name testify to me; but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheep. My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than all else, and no one can snatch it out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”
FSConnect Prayers for the day:
It’s Teacher Appreciation Week ~ offer a prayer for the many teachers and educators who have been working faithfully to connect and teach the many students each day. Send a handwritten note to a teacher/educator today to say thank you.
Prayers for the Day*:
Faithful Savior, I am so grateful for your commitment to me that will never let me be snatched away from you. I falter in my faith and feel the pull away from you by the siren call of sin and temptation. But you keep me standing in grace, strengthened and powerfully preserved. Fill me with your Spirit to fight the good fight today. Amen.
*Today’s prayer is taken from Canons of Dort 5.3 as written in Seeking God’s Face, Praying with the Bible through the Year.
May the peace of Christ be with you today and always, amen.
